Sesame Crusted Soy Glazed Ahi Tuna
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE SOY MARINADE :
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons honey
1 lemon
salt
pepper
FOR THE AHI TUNA :
2-3 ahi tuna steaks
black and white sesame seeds
vegetable oil
INSTRUCTIONS
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and honey. Whisk well to combine
In a shallow dish, add tuna steaks and lightly rub down with sesame oil
Pour half the marinade over both steaks, flip
Cover the other side of the steaks with the marinade
Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap
Place in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours
After 6 hours, In small shallow bowl, fill a quarter of the way with sesame seeds
Pre heat large cast iron skillet or dutch oven on medium high heat
Add a 1/4 inch layer of vegetable oil to very hot pan
Gently lay tuna steaks into pan and cook one side for 45 seconds. Flip
Cook second side for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Remove immediately from hot pan
Place steaks into the bowl of sesame seeds and coat both sides evenly
Lay onto a cutting board and rest for 5 minutes
Using a serrated knife, cut 1/4 inch slices against the grain
Serve immediately after slicing
