Sesame Crusted Soy Glazed Ahi Tuna

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE SOY MARINADE :

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 lemon

  • salt

  • pepper

FOR THE AHI TUNA :

  • 2-3 ahi tuna steaks

  • black and white sesame seeds

  • vegetable oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and honey. Whisk well to combine

  2. In a shallow dish, add tuna steaks and lightly rub down with sesame oil

  3. Pour half the marinade over both steaks, flip

  4. Cover the other side of the steaks with the marinade

  5. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap

  6. Place in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours

  7. After 6 hours, In small shallow bowl, fill a quarter of the way with sesame seeds

  8. Pre heat large cast iron skillet or dutch oven on medium high heat

  9. Add a 1/4 inch layer of vegetable oil to very hot pan

  10. Gently lay tuna steaks into pan and cook one side for 45 seconds. Flip

  11. Cook second side for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Remove immediately from hot pan

  12. Place steaks into the bowl of sesame seeds and coat both sides evenly

  13. Lay onto a cutting board and rest for 5 minutes

  14. Using a serrated knife, cut 1/4 inch slices against the grain

  15. Serve immediately after slicing

    ** Can be paired with ….. diced avocado, cucumbers, vegetable stir fry, simple arugula salad, etc.
