Endless Add-Ins Quiche
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE QUICHE :
9 in unbaked pie crust
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cups gruyere cheese
1 tablespoon flour
4 eggs
1 cup half and half
salt
pepper
2 cups add ins of your choice …
MEATS: ham, sausage, bacon, prosciutto, pancetta, etc
VEGETABLES: spinach, tomatoes, green onions, broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, peppers, etc
OPTIONAL TOPPINGS FOR SERVING: fresh herbs, grated cheese, hollandaise sauce, avocado, pepper flakes, etc
INSTRUCTIONS
Pre heat oven to 350°F
Line a 9 inch pie dish with the pie crust and gently press edges into the sides of the dish
In a small bowl toss 1 tablespoon flour with 2 cups of cheese and coat evenly. This absorbs the cheese grease and keeps the quiche from becoming watery
Spread floured cheese evenly over the crust
If using meat add ins, layer on top of the cheese
In medium bowl, with a whisk, beat VERY vigorously, the eggs and half and half. For 3-5 minutes
Whisk into the eggs any vegetables add ins
Gently pour egg mixture into the pie dish
Bake the quiche until the center is just about set, about 45-55 minutes. Don’t over-bake
Check around 35 minutes and if edges are getting too brown, loosely tent with foil for remaining time
Allow to cool for 15 minutes
Top with any optional toppings before serving
Serve immediately
OR cool to room temperature and then cover tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days
